Ojai Valley, CA
Ojai Olive Oil is a family owned and operated boutique producer of extra virgin olive oils. Started in 1998 by Ronald H. Asquith, the farm is now run by his son, Philip J.P. Asquith. From hand picking our olives to brewing our own compost teas on site, we do everything to the highest possible standard, with producing the very best olive oil as our driving goal.
ABOUT OUR GROVE
Our farm is 100% organic, and is run sustainably using permaculture and biodynamic techniques. We have 5,000 olive trees to date, but expand our groves every year. We began with a grove of 150 year old Lechin de Sevilla olives, planted back in the time of the Spanish Missionaries. We have supplemented that grove with mostly Columella and Nocellara del Belice olives, as well as some Picholene, Hojiblanca, Pendolino, Frantoio, and Leccino olives.
OUR PERFECT DAY
My favorite times of the year are the pruning and the harvest. The pruning is wonderfully satisfying, as you get to shape the future of the tree for centuries to come, and a well pruned tree is beautiful. The harvest is the most social time of the year. We play music in the groves, family and friends are all here to help and visit, and our whole ranch smells of the sweet green fragrance of fresh olives and olive oil.
WHERE TO FIND OUR OIL
Our products are most easily purchased online, at www.ojaioliveoil.com or on Amazon. We also have a tasting room at the ranch, and offer guided tours and tastings. You can also find us at a range of fine food stores from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, and at local farmers markets.
Ojai Olive Oil Company “Signature” won Best of Show (Medium Producer) in the 2014 COOC Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition.
